Our National Treasure: The Hungarian Komondor The author is one of Hungary's most eminent Komondor breeders. Translated from original Hungarian, it is being published first in English. Not only was Irene Evers unusually gifted with animals and especially with the dogs to which she devoted her long life, she was a well-educated woman whose colorful chapters include tales and anecdotes which will delight any lover of dogs. The book which is illustrated with attractive drawings.
The translation was a joint effort to which several people devoted much
time and care. Most of the work was done by John Arato from Canada
and Joy Levy out of respect and love for Irene Evers and the Komondor
breed for which she cared so deeply. |

![]() The Komondor Defined and a Description of the Shepherd Dog by Zoltán Kenéz $12.00 This is a translation of the 1922 text, which is now a very rare book in the original
Hungarian. For this reason we have printed a facsimile of the Hungarian text along with the annotated English
translation. The book details a trip the author made along with an artist friend to explore the homeland of
the Komondor and assess the state of the Komondor on the Puszta. Written with wit and nostalgia, this is a
picturesque and valuable addition to the scant supply of books in English on the Komondor.

![]() Arpad's Great Escape by Gabriel Trilling & Dore Levy $5.00 We are delighted to be publishing a charming children's book
about a Komondor. The dog is named Arpd, and he belongs to a
family I know well - my daughter Dore and her older daughter Gabriel
wrote this when Gabriel was 8 years old. We are lucky to have in
our club Maria Zankowich, a Komondor owner who is distinguished animal
artist, and she has illustrated the little book for us. Another
Komondor owner, Richard Mitchell, an author and a book designer, has put
it together for us to print. We have all enjoyed this project, and
we think it will appeal to you, to your children and to any friends of
your Komondor. It makes an especially nice birthday gift for your
children's friends. |

![]() The Cuisine of Hungary by George Lang We have a limited number of copies of George Lang's wonderful book,
The Cuisine of Hungary. This is without a doubt the most useful
Hungarian cookbook, as well as a delight to read for information about
Hungary and its food and wine. In it you will find everything from
an explanation of the different kinds of paprika to recipes for all the
things you ate in Hungary or in Hungarian homes. The recipes, by
the way, are easy to follow for Americans and will please the most
discriminating Hungarian epicure as well. It has interesting
photographs and is just plain fun to read, whether you cook or not! |
